Institute of Industrial Science & Technology (RIST) led by Yoo Seong
announced on Thursday, August 1, that its “Development of Steel Beam and
Modular Architecture of Photovoltaic Plants” has been nominated as one of the
research projects in 2019 by Steel & Convergence Technology Research
Association (SCRA) currently represented by Chairman Lee Deok-lak. The Project
was jointly proposed by CEO Kim Eung-uk of ISON, a small but rising giant
located in Pohang. SCRA promised 400 million Won fund to ISON and R&D team
at RIST led by Dr. Shin Hong-cheol.

 “If the Project comes out successful,” said an
official from ISON, “it will advance deep foundation construction using POSCO’s
‘Magnesium Aluminum Alloy Coating Product’ as well as modular constructions
which involves assembling prefabricated sections and photovoltaic parts at the
final building site.” The same official noted that “innovative solar generator
installation technology is estimated to bring an increase in annual sales of over
50 billion Won.”

The
official further added, “RIST will help ISON bring patented technologies to
market,” and expressed resolve to “expand POSCO’s steel sales channels and set
a good example of mutual growth.”
